Photoscape is an image-editing program available for Mac and PC. While the basic program is aimed at beginner and intermediate users, certain more advanced features are available in the Pro version.
The program has numerous features common to image-editing programs, including resizing, cropping and adjustments for colour, contrast and saturation. It also comes with a number of preset photo treatments, which allow users to quickly adjust the look of their images. In addition, the program provides users with tools to create GIFs, combine images and create collages. Is Photoscape free
Yes, the program recognises and can edit raw files from your camera. Raw files can be opened in the same manner as other images: Select them from the file explorer or drag and drop them onto the program’s interface.
No, Photoscape is commercial software; the program’s source code is not available for download or modification.
The language the program uses can be changed through the Preferences settings. To access these settings, click on the gearbox icon in the top right-hand corner of the interface. From there, adjust the interface language by clicking on the Language selector.
In the image Editor, click on the Edit icon in the top right-hand corner. In the options that appear, click on the Crop icon. From there, select a preset aspect ratio or manually draw one directly on your image. Finally, click the Crop button with the checkmark to complete the action.
To add text to images, select the Insert icon at the top right of the program’s interface. From there, select the Text tool to initialise placement of a text box. You can then edit the contents of the text box and manually set its position. Finally, adjust the settings in the Text panel to achieve the desired result.
The program can add both text and image watermarks to your images. To add an image watermark, select Insert and then the Image tool. When the file browser opens, choose an image to overlay on your original image, and use the Opacity slider to adjust the watermark overlay to the desired transparency. A text-based watermark can be added using the Text tool. Simply add the text, place it in the desired position and reduce its transparency using the opacity slider.
To begin creating a collage, click on the Collage menu item at the top of the interface. Now, in the Collage interface, select a layout for your collage. Drag and drop images from the file browser on the left of the interface directly onto your collage to populate your layout. Export your completed image by clicking on the Save button at the bottom right-hand corner of the interface.
